How long does it take to reach the Sahara from Marrakech?
On our 3-day tour you reach the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga on the second day, crossing the High Atlas and the Dades and Todra valleys. The dunes near Zagora can be reached on a 2-day trip. For a taste of the desert in one day, the stony Agafay desert is about 45 minutes from the city.
Which desert should I choose from Marrakech?
Erg Chebbi (Merzouga) has the highest golden dunes and is the classic choice for 3 days or more. Erg Chigaga is wilder and quieter. Zagora suits a short 2-day trip, and Agafay is a stony desert ideal for a day trip.

Zagora is the closest desert to Marrakech and can be reached on a 2-day tour, but its dunes are small. Merzouga has the high golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and needs at least 3 days from Marrakech.
